Cara Jiang, RDN, CDN

Having personally overcome high cholesterol levels, digestive problems, and low energy levels through nutrition and lifestyle changes, I know firsthand the power they hold to create lasting health improvements. In fact, one of my proudest achievements was reducing my cholesterol levels from 211 to 155 - all without medication!

In a modern world where managing health often involves lots of medications, I think it's incredible that nutrition and lifestyle strategies offer the potential to prevent, reduce, and sometimes even reverse chronic conditions and medication use.

  • Do you take insurance?
Some health insurance plans are accepted! To see if your health insurance is accepted, please email info@appledaynutrition.com. If your plan is not currently accepted, we can provide a Superbill after each completed nutrition session. This can be submitted to some insurance companies for reimbursement. Please note: not all insurance providers accept this as each plan has differing policies. Check with your insurance provider to see if this is allowable. If your insurance provider does accept Superbills for reimbursement, please write an email request after each completed service to info@appledaynutrition.com. In the email, make sure to attach a referral from your doctor with relevant ICD-10 diagnoses (this will be needed to complete the superbill!).
  • Who can benefit from working with a dietitian?
Good nutrition is a powerful tool for managing health! Whether you're living with a chronic condition or simply looking to prevent future issues, a dietitian can be your partner in achieving optimal well-being. Some people who live with certain conditions see significant improvements through dietary changes. A dietitian can help you manage high blood pressure and cholesterol naturally, potentially reducing medication needs, control blood sugar levels and manage pre-diabetes or diabetes through strategic nutrition and lifestyle changes. Even if you're feeling healthy, preventive nutrition is an investment in your future health! A dietitian can help you establish healthy habits, learn about food and its impact on your body, and empower you to make informed choices about your well-being. • What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
Registered Dietitians (RDs or RDNs) are certified food and nutrition experts recognized at a national level. To earn and maintain their credentials, RDNs undergo a rigorous process that includes a degree in nutrition, a competitive internship program, supervised practice, a registration exam, and ongoing continuing education. This ensures they possess the highest level of knowledge and expertise in providing safe and effective nutrition guidance. The term "nutritionist" is generally unregulated in the United States. While some states may have specific requirements, there's no national standard for qualifications. This means the background and expertise of a "nutritionist" can vary widely.
